                    Parent Education and Custody Effectiveness

The goal of P.E.A.C.E. is to create an effective co-parenting relationship between separating and divorcing parents. The program  offers parents an opportunity to learn the necessary skills to keep their children out of family conflicts and helps them acquire new parental skills necessary for rearing children between separate households.

Remember, even though you are no longer partners
you and your ex are still parents. You have and
important job to do and you must do it well!

Encourage children to talk as openly as they can about their feelings, both positive and negative. Do this often. Listen and sympathize.

Don't say bad things about your ex-partner to your children, even if you are angry or feuding. Children have the right to love both parents.

Expect resistance and difficulties in helping your children adjust to an ex-partner's new mate or the new mate's children. Transitions are difficult for everyone. Be patient.
Learn the ropes. Take a parenting class and know what to expect from your child while you go through separation and divorce.

Try to work with your ex-partner, even if it is difficult. Classes, workshops and programs offered through the Fairfield-Suisun Adult School can provide keys to improving parent communication.
The Fairfield-Suisun Adult School is proud to support
parents as they raise children who reach for the stars!
